The 6-pool is an all-in strategy for ending the game quickly. You have to be very careful not to be scouted early, as all races can counter the 6-pool by building defenses and walling off. When you build your first three zerglings, make sure you rally them and all future zerglings to the opponents base.
Take care of anything that might theaten you and your lings, like Spine Crawlers, Bunkers and Cannons. If the opponent is fleeing, make sure to block the ramp with your lings, to prevent the workers from getting away. If you are facing a zerg, you can also bring a drone to make a Spine Crawler.
You usually have to win with the 6-pool, as the economic damage you suffer early will not allow you to get back into the game. However, if you are able to take out most of the opponents workers, you might have a chance even if your zerglings are lost.
