The Forge Fast-Expand build is used against Zerg on maps where you are able to close the choke point of your natural expansion. This allows you to quickly get your expansion up, and get a very strong economy. Don’t completely go into probeproduction after you have secured your wall-off, as you are very vulnerable to agressive builds like banelings or fast roaches.

The vital part of the Forge-Expand is that you build your first Pylon, Forge and Gateway at the choke, with cannons behind these buildings shooting down zerglings trying to get in. If you have a secondary entrance with destrucable rocks, you also want to place a cannon there to prevent the zerglings from breaking down the rocks. After you have secured your second Nexus, start producing drones, but be prepared to cut drones to produce some forces. Your expansion is of no worth if you can’t defend it when a new attack comes.

If you are able to pull of the fast expansion and produce a lot of probes, you are in a good situation. You want to start producing combat units and attack. Many Zerg players will respond to the fast expansion by getting two expansions themselves. Void Rays, Blink-Stalkers or Dark Templars can be good choices for taking them out. The extra gas from your expansion allows you to tech up faster than normal.
