The 4-Warp Gate is a powerful build to put pressure on the opponent. You are able to continue warping in reinforcements, usually faster than the enemy is able to produce. Make sure to not attack unless you can take out at least as much as you lose, and don’t be afraid to retreat back to your pylon.

The timing of this build is important to get the most out of it. You should make sure you are not being scouted when placing down the third and fourth gateway. If you build them when the Warp Gate-research is halfway done, they should finish about exactly the same time as the research. Save up 2 Chrono Boost for the Warp Gate-research. You can warp in the first batch of units inside your base, or move out to the proxy-pylon.

If your enemy is Zerg, you should use your first gateway and core to block the entrance, with a zealot as the last piece of the wall-off. The 4-Warp Gate can win you the game if you keep attacking and are able to start taking down the base.

One of the most important factors of the 4 Warp Gate is not to supplyblock yourself. With each batch of units you are warping in, you should construct another pylon. You can use these as additional proxy-pylon closer to the enemy, or build them inside your base. If your 4-gate attack doesn’t win you the game, you should expand and build up your economy. Then either build more gates or tech up. You should keep the pressure on the enemy if you are planning on building more gates. If you are able to deny the expansion or hurting his economy, you are in great shape.
